Randy was born in Whitehorse, Yukon. There he grew up until the age of 13 where he moved to Carcross to be with his family. Randy is Cree, French and Tlingit of the Ishkitaan (Frog) Clan.
Randy was interested in art from a young age and became discouraged when many people made fun of him about it. He was told he would never be a good artist. Randy stopped making art for a long time after this.
However, later during a soul-searching journey, he challenged these negative beliefs and found his way back to his art.
Randy is self-taught through trial and error and more recently has started refining his art through what he has learned in books. He loves passing on his knowledge of art to his children who are turning into amazing artists. Randy hopes that one day they will surpass his skills and be able to share their art with the world.
